I'm a fifth-generation attorney, and was raised by a sole practitioner (my father) who set the highest standards in both excellence and ethics in the practice of law. I strive to reach the standard that he's set, with each and every client.

Since graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Law and becoming licensed to practice in Tennessee in 1998, I've been working with folks to plan purposefully in all matters related to both small and large businesses - from entity creation, to the sale of an existing business - and all that takes place in between.

I also work with individuals and families to create thoughtful estate plans, focusing on practical solutions to carry out individual goals and wishes. I ground my approach to planning in the belief that simple is best - although sometimes more sophisticated planning is necessary to meet more sophisticated goals. And while planning encompasses wills and trusts for the future, I also help clients plan for life, through comprehensive powers of attorneys and advanced care directives. To learn more about how I can help, visit the Practice Areas page.

Regardless of the help someone needs, I view my role as one of counselor and communicator. I've learned in 15 years of practice that communication is key to a successful lawyer-client relationship. To this end, I've written about what people should expect from their lawyers, as well as what we expect from our clients. A BA and MA in communication, and extensive training as a civil mediator, also come in handy when helping clients navigate challenging situations.

I live in Franklin, TN, with my husband and two children. In addition to the law, I have a fascination with all things related to technology, and help other lawyers integrate technology into their practices. I'm also the communications director for the local bar association (wcba-tn.org).

My husband and I watch our children play a lot of basketball, and spend way too much time taking care of the Moon zoo (currently two goats, two dogs, four horses, 20 cows, two cats and too many chickens to count).
